我第1次去 Shell 面试
面试官 Steven (Finance Manager – South China) 男士
Suprince (HR Officer – South China) 女士
面试从校园生活开始，我当然大谈学生活动，绝口不提我并不突出的学习成绩，幸好 Shell 也并不在意成绩。我有意将话题引到一次暑期工，并说：“其实销售成绩并不理想”，他们果然中计跟着问：“为什么？”我于是从容地将准备好的理由 first, second, third 地罗列出来，肯定赢得了不少好感。显然他们对我
校园生活比较满意，话锋一转：

Q: OK, let’s talk about another topic, which you’re probably not familiar with, but not worry, just express yourself as much as you can ..

接下来的问题是：

- 你觉得中国妇女的现状是怎么样？
- 她们和以前有什么不同？
- 为什么会有这样的不同？
- 你比较关注哪些妇女问题？
- 如果你有机会向国家主席提建议来改善中国妇女状况，你会提哪些建议？

My god, 这都是什么问题，还要用英语回答，有些地方实在不知道该怎么表达，他们也允许我用中文补充。好不容易才熬过这些问题，那个 Suprince 突然又扯到了男女平等：

Q: do you think we’re equal?
A: No, we’re born unequal. 女强人这个词就表明强的女人是少数，并说明世界一直被男性统治。

Q: what kind of woman you want to marry with, businesswoman or house wife?
A: of course, house wife;

Q: if you have a daughter, you want her to become businesswoman or house wife?
A: of course businesswoman,

Q: you want your wife to be a house wife, but daughter to become businesswoman?
A: yes, that’s what I’m thinking

这些问题实在使我恼火，而且疲于奔命。整个面试过程十分被动，受到围追堵截，觉得希望不大。但不久就接到通知可以去参加他们的第二轮面试

我第2次去 Shell 面试

这也是最后一轮测试，分两部分：

1．
从5个话题中自己挑选1个，花30分钟准备一个speech;
2． 60分钟向2位 interviewer做speech并接收提问；
我已经忘了
我挑了哪个话题
，那些话题包括：环保、走私、私有化等， interviewer 1个是香港人，1个是外国人（自称在Shell工作了13年的HR）
但整个面试十分糟糕，一个问题成了转折点：
外国人：（英文）如果有人批评Shell到中国来设厂生产是想利用当地比较低的环保标准，你将如何回应？
我的回答大概是我会解释我们不会在中国有意降低标准等，显然他很不满意我的答案，他说：让我告诉你吧，我们Shell在世界各地都将保持相同的环保标准 …… 我马上觉得他并不是在听我的回答，他只是想训斥我，而且我并不觉得我的答案和他的有什么不同。面试的气氛马上让我觉得很泄气。
接下来的一些问题也显得十分愚蠢
香港人：do you like traveling?
A: yes, I’ve been to Sichun province. But I can’t do that very often.
Q: why?
A: that needs a lot of money, right?
Q: I mean business travel
A: oh, sorry, I though you mean tour,

在一个问题中，香港人提到一个词 state company，我一时不明白指什么，绕了一下才明白就是我们平时指的 state-owned company 国有企业，等我醒悟的时候，问题已经结束了，这些词汇对于读机械专业的我有时真的反应不过来。
结果我没有通过第二轮面试。那年Shell在我们学校只招了2个外语系的男生。但1年之后，我又参加了一次Shell的面试，那时我已经工作了半年。

我第3次去 Shell 面试

我在一个法国小公司工作了半年，很开心，但知道没有前途。朋友介绍SHELL人事部(HR)要招人，我赶紧递了简历。
面试官 David Lee (HR Manager – South China)

全英文面试，时间大概1.5 小时，面试自然少不了对我工作的回顾，然后主要讨论了计算机的问题：

- 计算机到底有什么好处；
- 有什么坏处？
- 如何对付这些坏处？
- 计算机在未来的10年有什么新用途；
- 如何在中国推进计算机教育；
- 如何说服中国政府大规模采用计算机系统？
- 计算机对政府有什么用？
有些问题让我记忆犹新：

Q: Why do you want to change your job?
A: first, many friends of mine persuade me to be a big fish in a small pond, but I know you won’t find a big fish in the small pond, it can be only found in the ocean. I should find the ocean and learn to become a big fish; second, according to my experience on badminton, you will never become a good player if you don‘t practice with the good player, I’m sure I can find a lot of good players in you company; I enjoy my time with my current company, but I know the long term development is more import to me;

Q: Are you going to pursue MBA program some day in the future?
A: yes, but I don’t have very high expectation on the result of it;
Q: why?
A: MBA program summarize the basic grammar of the business operation, it doesn‘t mean you are good at negotiation even you’re good at Chinese or English grammar, same logic, MBA course won’t make you have the real ability while facing actual business decision. But it’s still good to have some grammar foundation when you starting learning any language;

有一个问题我被卡住了

Q: …. Do yo mean the government should use common software?
Common software 是什么，我一时反应不过来，只好说：I don’t quite follow you?
David 发现我是不都懂这个词，就解释说：standard software 我好没面子，这样都没听懂。
这次面试比较顺利，第二天打电话来问我“明天能上班吗？”我很高兴地回答：“不行”结果上班的第一项任务就是在3天内要看完800份学生简历，并整理出面试名单，从此我每年都要参与校园招聘.
