Offer: UBS Capital Market Graduate Program 2011 - Taipei Branch
Company: UBS AG
Location: Taipei Branch
Position: Capital Market, Graduate Program
Background: Under graduate from top tier university in Taiwan withinternship experience in renowned investment banks.
I received the phone call from HR today and was informed that I havebeen chosen to join UBS Graduate Program 2011. During my application process, Iaccess abundant resource from this website. So it is time for me to share myapplication experience here. I would like to share my experience based on theapplication process:
*Application Process
On-line application => SHL Test => 1st roundinterview => Assessment Centre
*Firststep: On-line application:
Each year UBS starts the recruitmentprocess around August. You can search openings from: http://www.ubs.com/1/e/career_candidates/graduate_and_intern/search.html
You have to answer some open questions whensubmitting the application. I strongly suggest you convey your passion for thisjob and what’s your selling point, just like writing the MBA application essay.
*Second step: SHL Test:
After submitting the application, applicant was required to take SHLon-line test. There are 2 parts of the test: Numerical test and Logical test. You could obtain rich resource about the test here. Do practice before takingthe exam. UBS has high bench mark for the test result, only passing the testcould you move forward to the interview phase.
*Thirdstep: 1st round interview
I had my first round interview with line manager. The process wasenjoyable, we had a nice talk. She went through my resume and asked somecompetency questions regarding my internship and extracurricular experience. Justbe yourself and speak confidently. After 3 hours of my 1st roundinterview, I got a call from HR in Singapore Office, and she told me I wasinvited to the Assessment Centre.
*Fourthstep: Assessment Centre
The Assessment Centre including 4 parts:
01.
Individual Case study (40 mins) – You have to study a case and workas an external consultant to provide advice to your client (My case is aboutGoogle). My suggestion is:
a.) Read asfast as you can.
b.) Befamiliar with SWOT analysis
You also haveto write your ideas on 5 flip charts and make a 10-min presentation toassessor. The assessor will have a 15-min Q&A session with you afterhearing your presentation. Do speak confidently and have eye contact with theassessor during your presentation.
02.
Group Case study (15 mins) – You will read a case and play as amanager in a company. Before the group discussion, each participant willpresent their role and objective, and you all have to make a decision on how tomake budget allocation. Be firm and sharp but listen to others in this session. The assessor would judge the candidates based on your attitude in thediscussion to see if you are a good team player and the quality of your talk.
03.
Individual interview:
You wouldhave competency-based interviews with other line managers. The interviews wererelaxing and I had nice talks with my interviewers. Be well prepared of your CVand prepare some questions for your interviewers to show your interests andpassion for this position and UBS.
04.
Paper-based SHL numerical test:
You have totake a SHL test again in the assessment centre, and finish 40 questions in 35mins. The test is a little bit tricky, please be careful during the test andcalculate as fast as you could. I finished all the questions in time, but othercandidates in my slot failed (most of them just answered 30~35 questions).
Conclusion: Ithink the recruitment process at UBS is fair and well-structured. Since theywill judge one candidate from many aspects and based on the feedbacks from atleast 3 interviewers. I also feel great with HR during my application; theyalways respond my questions efficiently. Wish you all the best of luck in jobhunting :D
